Polyphonic the Verbose is a musician based in Oakland, California. While playing various instruments in everything from noise music bands to Afro-Cuban percussion ensembles, he is most known as a hip hop and electronic music producer. He recorded multiple albums with a string of different collaborators, including <a href="spotify:album:5DFti8GIBtR6hgNOcvBBT7" data-name="Dont Give Up">Dont Give Up</a> and <a href="spotify:album:5UsvBDjRFt0mlkEVAQ5svR" data-name="terradactyl">terradactyl</a> with <a href="spotify:artist:5F3fDx84RYnmx0FGZeRtSF" data-name="Serengeti">Serengeti</a>, and worked with <a href="spotify:artist:4ITyby2i26NhM69kXNpIdR" data-name="Ben LaMar Gay">Ben LaMar Gay</a> in their collaboration <a href="spotify:artist:5DbTXrQ1icqgWZexReHT9Z" data-name="Juba Dance">Juba Dance</a>.
Polyphonic's first solo album <a href="spotify:album:4YdXxGUNXBHbLqoZC69ZE1" data-name="Abstract Data Ark">Abstract Data Ark</a> was described as "eerie and yet brilliant, this is a dub album, an IDM joint, and an electronic hip-hop masterpiece," by Smother Magazine. XLR8R Magazine called it, "Futuristic... exploratory ... super-glitchy instrumentals, outright progressive hip-hop, and a little dub." Urb Magazine wrote "Stewed into a laid-back dub flavor and hyper-aggressive penchant for glitchy gymnastics, Polyphonic's entrees steam with originality and avant-garde flavors."
His second solo album <a href="spotify:album:3eJklYYiFEiQYqZelAykKd" data-name="Post Species Speaker">Post Species Speaker</a> was initially released in a limited homemade edition in 2012, and finally rereleased in 2025 as a digital album.
