PONZA

Gathering the elements of psychedelia, surf, garage and grunge together by taking the 60's and 70's peacefull and protest mindset as the origin, Istanbul based PONZA started with the home recordings of Gunes Akyurek (guitar and vocals) and evolved to a band with the joining of Salih Topuz (drums), Burak Serter (bass) and Mehmet Korkmaz (electric guitars)

The debut EP "Free Kids" (2015), recorded at Noiseist (Istanbul) and produced by sound engineer Çağan Tunalı. As the frst steps of the band Salih Topuz and Güneş Akyürek chosed four songs from the demos and they hit the red button at 2014. All the instruments in the EP are tuned in 432 Hz for good luck (yeah, why not?) and the EP released from Shalgam Records on vinyl and digital.

With the joining of Serter and Korkmaz, PONZA started shaping up new songs and released the single "Gold & Round" in 2018. Later on that year four musicians made recordings at Babajim, Dayımlar and Tarla studios and finally the band's first LP "Another Land" is released in 2019. DIY efforts of the band members in the production process led to the founding of Tarla Records. The album is mixed by Salih Topuz and mastered by Çağan Tunalı.

The last single from PONZA, "This Side" (2020) is recorded at Babajim Studios (ıstanbul) except the trippy, fuzzy, mellow guitar swells and space echo actions took place at Tarla. This Side is mixed by Burak Serter and mastered by Güven Ersoysal at Babajim. PONZA is going on recording music and experimenting.
