In between the sonic landscapes of large melancholias pop, old americana, folk and even gospel, Swedish duo POOLS found their sound. Combining these elements with electronic noises and equally striking as compelling vocals they certainly found something of their own. These lullaby like songs will draw you in and follow you through the day in an almost ghostly way.
POOLS is multi-instrumentalist Fredrik Forell and vocalist Arvid Hällagård, also of Stoner Rock outfit Greenleaf. The two have been creating music together for a long time in different constellations (most recently as WYRES) but none so authentic, moving and powerful as POOLS.
The debut album ”You & Us” was released in 2021 via Swedish imprint Something Beautiful Recordings.
“Raw and melancholic introduction to POOLS’ haunting Americana” - The Line of Best Fit.
”Encapsulates the very essence of creativity and I find it genuinely exciting.” - Folk Radio UK.
”Our favourite Swedish newcomers.” - Wonderland Magazine.
”Unique and beautiful sound.” - Northern Transmission.
”Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.” - Weathered Music.
”Make Leonard Cohen sound like Abba.” - Nordic Music Review.
”This is decayed Americana with pre-war acoustic-blues leanings. Undeniably stunning!” - Raw Ramp
