Matheesan thanabalasingham who is popularly known as poovan matheesan is one of the youngest tamil music director currently in Sri Lanka. He started to write lyrics in his own and sing it in his own tune when he was at school. Then he started composing his own songs, as he is from a family which is vastly related to music. His father was a drummer in a well known tamil band kannan koshdi in early 80s.
Within a short period of time poovan matheesan composed music for more than 150 independent songs and scored more than 20 short films and documentaries. He recently released an independent audio album named kottravai was a super hit album and took the attention of each and every people who are interested in srilankan tamil music.
Matheesan is the Managing Director of Poovan Media which is engaged in making experimental productions and bringing out many social issues in the form of video and music.
