Pop It Off Boyz came on the scene with "Crank Dat Batman," an infectious party track in the vein of "Crank Dat" by Soulja Boy. Just like Soulja Boy, members CG (Courtlin Edwards) and Lil Action (Nicholas Brown) were Illinois natives heavily influenced by the good-time snap music coming out of Atlanta, Georgia. Lil Action had actually moved to Atlanta for a time and picked up some of the local style. When he returned to Illinois, he teamed with CG under the name the Invisabel Criminalz. The duo had a regional hit, "Harder Than You Thank," before changing their name to Pop It Off Boyz and recording "Crank Dat Batman" in 2005. By 2008, the song had become a YouTube phenomenon with hundreds of homemade "Crank Dat Batman" videos posted to the site. That March, the song peaked at 64 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The duo broke up and got back together, but Lil Action died in a 2014 car accident. CG, who went by Mr. CG and eventually <a href="spotify:artist:5sFK0sW1gd56ihbYfp7vMi">Courtlin Jabrae</a>, penned tracks for other artists and continued a solo career. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
