Porch Weather is a collaborative concept album chronicling a day's progression from the porch of an old farm house at Lake Pickett in rural central Florida, surrounded by orange trees, lake water, friends, chickens, dogs, bugs, birds, sun, rain, moonlight, and music.
It begins with a sunrise and moves through the motions of a day: morning's meditations, a lake party with friends, moments of solitary reflection, the stillness of the afternoon, an approaching storm, the shelter sought, the lingering petrichor, the slow sunset, open spaces of dusk, the camaraderie of the stars, and more scenes of the weather of life from the porch.
Each song is intended to represent a certain time of day, and includes ambient recordings of the sounds of nature around our home from those different times.
These songs were all written and recorded by Andrew Kelly, Tessa Register, and Dave Hanson in 2015, and are finally seeing the light of day.
The farmland that inspired this album has since been demolished and will be the bedrock for suburban expansion. This music is dedicated to all the memories made at that moldy house at the end of the dirt road at Lake Pickett, Florida.
