Porcupine was founded by Casey Virock in 2006, saluting one of his favorites, Echo and the Bunnymen. The band's songcraft and musical sensibilities swirl the Bunnymen and other New Wavers along with 1960s British psychedelica purveyors (think Syd Barrett) and 1970s classic rockers. The result is muscular and edgy, infused with melodicism and angular guitar work that puts the band in a class with Queens of the Stone Age and Swervedriver. The band have shared the stage with with the Meat Puppets, Mission of Burma, The Flaming Lips, Mudhoney, Built to Spill, Bob Mould, and Dinosaur, Jr..
Our Chemistry is a Tightrope is Porcupine's 3rd full length LP, building on its indie rock roots and inventive guitar-driven songwriting that fuses accessible vocal melodies with dynamic arrangements and a wide range of guitar tones, echoes, and experimental lo-fi and spoken word elements. Coming off an active 2023, including support for Dinosaur Jr. at Milwaukee's Summerfest, the long awaited LP is moving Porcupine forward in 2024.
