Portia was born in Lusaka, Zambia (Africa) and is now a proud Australian Citizen. With music as her only salvation, Portia is a survivor who overcame abandonment, homelessness, poverty and near starvation. She spent her youth singing at church until her late teens when she was ostracized because of her teenage pregnancy. Her life changed dramatically when members of a charity organization were mesmerized by her performance at a local Zambian club. In 2014, she co-wrote and released her debut single "Hope" as the mantra song for that organization--the Starkey Hearing Foundation (Minneapolis). The relationship with the foundation opened the doors to enable Portia to perform before President George Bush and President Bill Clinton, and on the same stage as Katy Perry. She has since formed friendships with Gene Simmons (who officiated her wedding) and Darius Rucker (with whom she recorded a duet--July 2018).
