I’m a Sri Lankan guitarist, vocalist, and composer with over 47 years of musical experience. My journey began at the age of 8, learning Hawaiian (lap steel) guitar from my father. By 11, I was already performing on keyboards with my uncle’s band, Sweetones, and later joined Paragon Band, where I embraced Calypso and Spanish guitar styles—an experience that shaped my early-stage presence and musical versatility.
As a teenager, I played with Mendistars and went on to become the lead guitarist for Syac (1988–1991). During this period, I had the incredible opportunity to work with Sri Lankan music legends like Clarence Wijewardena, which greatly influenced my musical path.
In 1991, I joined Marians as lead guitarist and vocalist—a defining moment in my career. Over the years, my melodic guitar work has become a recognizable part of Marians live sound, helping shape the band’s identity. I’ve contributed to all seven Marians albums, recording over 60–70 original tracks.
One of the most memorable highlights of my journey is the song “Laila”, which resonated deeply with audiences and became a fan favorite. It even gained popularity beyond Sri Lanka, marking a special chapter in my global musical reach.
Outside of Marians, I offer private guitar lessons with a focus on interactive, inquiry-based learning. I'm also working on solo vocal and guitar projects.
