Prasanta A Samadhar is a extremely versatile artist with a strong foundation of Hindustani classical music.
He is also a part of the famous fusion band, ‘Silk’, as the lead vocalist, which includes talented musicians like Louiz Banks, Sivamani, Karl Peters & Sridhar Parthasarathy.
He has also sung for some well known Hindi movies like "Fiza" "Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega" and many more.
He proved his mettle in ‘Ritu Tarpan’, his tribute to national award winning director Late Shri Rituparno Ghosh has received widespread acclamation.
The romance with music initiated at the tender age of 14, when Prasanta was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to perform for the late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi at the prestigious Mughal Gardens, Delhi. He then represented India in the prestigious Shark Taranalaray Festival at Moscow, where around 200 countries performed alongside him. During the festival, around 25 countries expressed their chose to jam on with him.
Tutored by great maestros like Pandit Mohan Lal Mishra, Chinmay Lahiri, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar and Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. His versatility shows when he performs a heavy raga, a romantic film song and a heavy-duty fusion number, all with equal ease.
