Fueled by raw energy and captured live on a single recorder at home, If You Lose, Let Me Loose is a visceral dive into Mississippi Hill Country Blues; urgent and unfiltered.
Lucas Espildora, hailing from São José dos Campos, Brazil, has spent the last decade steeped in Old‑School Blues Roots, performing live and collaborations with international Blues Artists.
Rogério Aguiar, from the legendary punk‑rock group ''Lo‑Fi'', brings decades of experience in Brazil’s DIY punk/garage underground. Known for raw energy and a lo‑fi ethos, his rhythm and attitude give Primitive Gentlemen their tribal, visceral heartbeat.
The nine tracks are completely original and born from spontaneous sessions, crafted between voyages around the world on a ship and moonlit nights in Cajun Louisiana. This album doesn’t aim to sound pretty, it aims to sound real. Picture the ghost of T-Model Ford sitting between them with a bottle of Jack Daniels.
Every song balances grit and groove, sorrow and sarcasm. The album is a tribute to forgotten Fat Possum heroes: Robert Cage, Robert Belfour, Paul "Wine" Jones, Asie Payton, Hasil Adkins, Elmo Williams, and Ezekiah Early.
Rogério Aguiar: drums, percussion, vocals, songwriting, recording & production
Lucas Espildora: vocals, guitar, songwriting, recording, artwork, mix
Thiago Roxo: mix & master
Zaira Veneziani: photography
Recorded live on the living room floor at Rogério’s grandmother’s house.
