Prince KJ (Kenneth Lyle Jedidiah Wright-Gross) is an 18-year-old, independent Christian music artist who mostly creates in the hip hop genre. He started writing at 7 and producing at 12, inspired by his parents @WG and Precious Love, who are both CHH artists.
As a kid growing up in South Georgia, his parents were intentional about what media he consumed - nothing secular, violent, sexual, or unedifying was tolerated. And he counts that as a blessing, being treated with music from Lecrae, Andy Mineo, KB, Trip Lee, and others until about 14. That's when he was first exposed to Eminem and J Cole.
KJ noticed a significant gap between the lyrical abilities of these secular artists, and the more nonchalant poetry from Christian hip-hop artists at the time (save for KB).
While he recognizes the fact that thousands of Christian hip-hop artists including himself would not exist if the 116 Clique, GOM and HGA teams didn't arise to pave the way in the industry, he seeks to normalize the CHH genre as being the source of superior artistic prowess.
Now, self-named "Prince KJ," derived from King Solomon of the Bible, means to "make more Psalms than David," glorifying God both with edifying gospel-filled content, and creative, potent lyrical ability.
He does the same with his YouTube channel "The Happy Hummy," where he glorifies God by interviewing people who have experienced miracles.
