Privat is a new music project written, produced and performed by Erik Rapp.
Erik Rapp’s Privat and the album ”Natten Har Aldrig Varit Så Ljus” (The Night Has Never Been This Bright) combines electronic experimental production with influences from Swedish folk ballads as well as classical and choral music. Erik credits this unique sound to his upbringing in small town Leksand and his experience from singing in a church choir :
”My intentions with Privat is to mix the holy and sacred with the electronic and distorted, in order to create the sound of a whole different reality.”
For the artwork and visuals Erik has enlisted creative Martin Falck, who has previously collaborated with acts such as Fever Ray and The Knife.
The vision of Privat’s ”Natten Har Aldrig Varit Så Ljus” is to describe personal feelings and experiences in relation to identity, politics and society. You go through a crisis, find salvation and finally end up in paradise ; in this case the realization of wanting to be free in one’s emotions and trough that understanding finding a home.
Home is the end of our existence in society and the beginning of our private future. ”Natten Har Aldrig Varit Så Ljus” is just that - the breaking point where night devolves into a paradise and where the light is the experience.
