In the face of tough Philadelphia neighborhoods, four talented young men—“Mire,” “Dash,” “Tae,” and “Rizzy”—united to make music and share in the brotherhood at the heart of their city as Project 2ONE5. It started as a local phenomenon and burgeoned into R&B’s hottest new group with tens of millions of plays, endorsements courtesy of everyone from Kanye West to Diddy, and a major deal with HITCO Entertainment signed personally by L.A. Reid.
During 2015, they first came together under the name M.T.B. In between countless neighborhood shows and a viral video of a show-stopping concert on a train, they piled into a car for gigs in California and Chicago alongside Brandy and Day 26. Inspired by Chris Brown, Boyz II Men, New Edition, Jodeci, and Michael Jackson, they carved out a style of their own as Project 2ONE5. During 2018, Dash recorded a cover of XXXTentacion’s “Changes” with rapper Gunjin. The post clocked over 8 million views in under a day, incited Snoop Dogg and Diddy to share it, and earned looks from WorldStarHipHop and The Blast. Kanye and Teyana Taylor both showed massive love to them for an acapella social media cover of Taylor’s “Hold on.” Now, they properly introduce themselves as Project 2ONE5 on the 2019 single “Sexaholix” and prove they represent the future of R&B.
