Two time ‘Calgary Music Award’ Nominee’s Project Trybe might very well be the next big thing in Western Canadian Hip-Hop.
After a decade of creating music together, the five man group — previously known as Midwest Mindset—are now preparing for their breakthrough year in 2019. Their debut release I Love Alberta Peace sold over 300 physical copies, and helped the group raise over $9500 in a widely successful Kickstarter campaign. The group was also selected by FACTOR for their Artists Development Program in 2018, which awarded the Trybe a $2000 grant. Project Trybe has been hard at work in the studio for the last year creating their (entirely self-produced) follow-up album Earth People which is slated for a spring release. However, they still made time to hit the road; including performing at every Alberta date of the Junk & Locksmith tour. They headlined a Calgary music festival (JunctionFest) and were also selected by Classified to perform at a sold out show in their hometown (Red Deer). Persistence and growth are two elements which set this group apart from many artists in Western Canada. With new music, videos, and content on the way the Trybe is excited to unleash their vision onto the Canadian Hip-Hop scene in 2019.
