The Pseudofonia band was born in 1989 in the Art Secondary School in Foggia, Apulia, Italy. After the first years of musical research and the recording of some demo-tapes, the band took part in various gigs, gaining confirmations about their mixture of reggae, ska, soundtracks and songwriting, upbeat rhythms coming from Jamaica associated with pulses from the Apulian tradition. A new sort of patchanka, with lyrics about social subjects and surreal tales, written in Italian and Apulian dialect, with fast rhythms that led the band to excel in national competitions.
Their first E.P. KUNZ was re-released by the label RadioSpia in 2014, in a re-mastered version with a much better sound, enriched with a live track from 1998, under the supervision of the same producer and sound engineer of 1999, Marco Maffei. It is fascinating and exciting to see how Pseudofonia are still preserving their audience, fans faithful to their music and to their ability to communicate with a personal style: tradition, modernity, critical spirit, ska, reggae, dub, folk, wave and pop in a unparalleled, unique and actual musical code, able to narrate the South, able to narrate us worldwide.
In 2019 they released a new E.P. for RadioSpia, called '30', containing unreleased songs and versions, too. A gift to fans for their 30th anniversary.
