PYXI is the debut solo project of a former band artist hailing from Adelaide.

Hitting the end of the 20’s in all its glory and turmoil, it’s meant realising that while there’s definitely a space for being introspective, it’s about making sure it reaches retrospect. The continual growth and frightening awareness of self and how you work in the world. The good, the bad and all the grey matter in between. What it is to evolve and move past our self focus onto the greater issues and realities of life and how and what we can contribute. This project from PYXI slowly unwraps chapters of what that unravelling has looked like over the last few years.

All the vocals are solely one person. Inspired by the creations of Emma Louise, Daughter and Sensi Sye, this music is driven through the storytelling not just lyrically, but through tapping into those androgynous vocal tones and layers throughout the songs to create the dialogues between inner and outer self within each track.

Having previously been part of a band opening for acts such as Running Touch, Japanese Wallpaper and Wallace, PYXI wanted this project to be something that was more personally reflective. It’s an invitation to be immersed in and of itself, conflicting with ambiguity and a desire of wanting to still so deeply connect to others. They also strongly dislike 99% of the forms of potato, yes including mashed, so relatability may yet prove to be challenging.
