Born into a musical family, Abbass-Akande Abiodun (Q Smth) was exposed to quality music from childbirth.
His musical background and initial influence stem from his father, Fuji Legend, Obesere.
Growing up on the streets of Lagos, Q Smth was further influenced by other genres including Afrobeats, Reggae, Hip-hop, adult contemporary & more recently, Grime.
While studying in Cyprus, his introduction to the Grime culture in the Summer of 2016 kick-started his musical sojourn.
Following his debut single, ‘Based On Sound’ in 2019, Q emerged into the music world and garnered lots of attention and positive feedback from fans and critiques alike.
In 2020, his collaboration with sensational R&B artiste, Medusa, on ‘I don’t mind (Under the Covers)’ was played on multiple radio stations, including BBC Introducing. And the visuals, with over a hundred thousand views on YouTube.
His first self produced single of 2021, ‘Try Diss’, featured on Treble’s “Mark My Words” playlist, really highlighted his versatility as a creative. Furthermore, Napa Anthem, a collaboration with Danny Tato Brown was premiered on the biggest radio station in Cyprus (MIX FM) and had the whole of Ayia Napa on hook all through summer.
Q Smth’s evolving style has been a reflection of his own life experiences and environment. His uncanny ability with words, impeccable delivery and cadence, amongst other stellar qualities, have been instrumental to his budding musical appeal.
