Quiet Loner

From 2004-2019 Quiet Loner was the performance name of singer-songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:58VL9k7UTny3fze1Ig3W2y" data-name="Matt Hill">Matt Hill</a>

Inspired by the storytelling traditions of folk and country music Hill is influenced by US songwriters such as Guy Clark and John Prine as well as English writers like Elvis Costello.

His debut album Secret Ruler of the World in 2004 was a country heartbreaker voted Americana UK Album of the Year, and was a Number One album on the UK Americana Chart and the Euro Americana Chart. Subsequent releases gained 4-star reviews from the likes of Uncut and The Daily Mirror and radio play from BBC6 Music.

In 2020 Hill announced he was dropping the Quiet Loner name and releasing new music under his name <a href="spotify:artist:58VL9k7UTny3fze1Ig3W2y" data-name="Matt Hill">Matt Hill</a> starting with <a href="spotify:album:3GyYA7IJItR5Br9lq4NZcU" data-name="Savage Pilgrims">Savage Pilgrims</a> released in July 2020
