Egor Gerasenko, known professionally as qumcl, is an independent electronic musician and producer from Surgut, Russia. His work blends elements of lo-fi, IDM, ambient, and experimental drum’n’bass, forming dense, textural soundscapes that often feel both deeply intimate and eerily distant like tuning into a dream broadcast on a broken tape recorder.
Gerasenko began making music under the name Madcap Laughs, releasing experimental electronic recordings between 2021 and 2023 that combined noise, tape loops, and minimal structures. Though originally inspired by rock and post-rock aesthetics, his creative focus quickly shifted toward more abstract sonic territory an evolution that led directly to the formation of qumcl.
