Rachel Gesner is a singer/songwriter from New Jersey. She has been writing ever since she was little and first began songwriting at the age of 13 about the struggles of mental health which came 2nd place in a songwriting competition. This was the first time Rachel put her thoughts into music and has continued to do so. Her most recent song “Own Worst Enemy” lets the listener step into the shoes of how hard the struggles of mental health can be.
Though she has always been a lyricist, as she got older she began experiencing with different kinds of sounds, messing around with different chords on the piano, to then putting these emotions to music. She loves to jump around writing from one topic to another while also learning new things about her process and herself as an artist. In every song Rachel writes, her lyrics are deep and from the heart as if you were able to hear her thoughts.
She believes music is so beyond powerful and can touch so many people in all different kinds of ways. She hopes that regardless of whatever it is she is writing about, everyone can relate in their own way. She loves listening to all different kinds of artists such as Dua Lipa, Tate McRae, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Nessa Barrett and many more.
She would describe her sound as a mix of poppy and sassy while also having sweet and sentimental ballads. Rachel hopes one day that she can share her music with the whole world and she can inspire and help others while doing so.
