RAKEL is an artist, songwriter, and producer from Sweden. Her sound reflects her upbringing in the Swedish mountains of Jämtland, where she was immersed in music from artists like Madonna, M.I.A., Marie Fredriksson, Bob Dylan and Susanne Sundfør.
Rakel’s connection to nature is a major influence on much of her music. Over the years, her Sami origins have grown increasingly important in her creative journey. Rakel’s songwriting deeply explores feelings of not belonging, self-reflection, love, and change. RAKEL’s productions are a fusion of dreamy, melancholic melodies with punchy lyrics, raw productions inspired by Electronic music, RnB, Folk music, Hip Hop and punk, all wrapped in a nostalgic yet contemporary style. In 2019 she released the international song for the alpine world championship together with Teddybears. During COvid Rakel studied at Musikmakarna. She has collaborated with artists like Teddybears, Sam Florian and Gonza-ra.
In 2024, Rakel released the EP “To Let Things Go”, which she co-produced with Alexander Fredman Forssberg. The EP explores themes of betrayal, conversations with nature, the concept of truth, and social constructs. Rakel performed songs from the EP at various gigs across Sweden, and in the spring of 2025, she also released the single “Loving in the Rain”. The song has been praised by several people, including radio host and DJ Jodie Bryant, who described it as a nostalgic banger.
