Randa

Randa is a Canadian jazz singer. Her style is the result of multicultural immersions.
Her career took off during a journey to Miami in 2002 where she recorded her first jazz album Pillow Talk. The album contains several American jazz standards, one track in French, and was her first attempt in writing lyrics in Arabic to Duke Ellington's hugely successful Caravan. The result was quite convincing because of the subtle orientalism it effectively portrayed.
In 2006, she launched her second album I Belong recorded in Amsterdam, offering a mix between jazz and world music.
In 2011, she released her album Moon Breeze recorded in Montreal with the collaboration of world acclaimed jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut, bassist Michel Donato and drummer Jim Hillman. Her collaboration with Cyrus Chestnut lead to performances with the Dizzie Gillespie All Star Big Band and the recording of the cd Subtle Thrills recorded and arranged in 2015 by John Lee, bassist and sideman to D. Gillespie, along with Lewis Nash drums, Dezron Douglas doublebass, Cyrus Chestnut piano, Antonio Hart and Freddie Hendrix. She received eloquent critics in the LA jazz news by Scott Yanow just to mention a few. Randa sings fluently in four languages namely English, French, Arabic and Spanish.
