"Ray+Beauties" is born from the merging of two northern Italian creative forces: frontman and singer Michele Bellinaso has been leading his garage-surf rock installment "FREEZ", since 2015. Writing most of the instrumentation and lyrics by himself in his room studio in Schio, his dynamic songwriting abilities shine through when paired with the more elusive Ettore Rigadello, who in the past has made a name for himself in the Italian beatmaking scene under the moniker "Ray GG", and is now working in the electro-ambient landscape as a solo project.
The duo has been producing sounds since June 2020, in the midst of Italy's first corona-virus wave. This gave them not much time to work in person, yet a full EP was born in just a few months. Challenging the borders between acoustic and electronic production, R+B has been able to hand-craft a sound that shifts between the authentic and the fake, the hard-hitting production and the glossy vocals, creating a new flavor that the band struggles to give name, but that can be summed-up by one true mantra: No-Worldbuilding.
This slogan represents an unwillingness to construct new aesthetics, new worlds, but the will to serve the pre-existing ones, crafting new sounds and emotions from the ones that were already there; the artists just picked them up from the side of their path.
