Louisiana artist Ray $teezo, born Raymond Vincent, is redefining the “Dark Trap” genre with his dark, surreal, and brutally honest style. In fact, he is almost mockingly honest about the reality of life in New Orleans as his music takes you through an uncensored journey through the good and bad of his life. $teezo easily catches the listener’s attention with his phenomenal word play and ability to stretch his creativity to fit any track.
$teezo channeled the fatal experiences of his life into poetry, a series he called The Dark Sessions, and found inspiration from his former millionaire father to fuel him as he entered the booth to tell his story. He began developing his catalog at the age of 13 and two years later he would be known under the stage name Kidd Ray with two projects already released under the label GWOP INC; “Its up there” from 2016 and “Jungle Book” from 2017.
His recent releases cement $teezo as an artist who provides a universal experience to listeners. “Love Song” acts as a female anthem as he relives old relationships providing a cautionary tale for avoiding heartbreak. He shows off his extraordinary lyrics, delivery, and production work in his single “Today”. He pays homage to his favorite basketball player, the great Kobe Bryant, who shares the name of $teezo’s lost best friend Kobe in his track “24”.
After hearing his whole catalog it has all of us thinking the same thing, “What's next from this kid?”.
