Raye Zaragoza (she/her) is an award-winning singer-songwriter who NPR Music called “one of the most fresh and compelling voices in folk music today." Her new album Hold That Spirit is a triumphant celebration of womanhood and freedom, created exclusively with a cast of female producers, engineers, instrumentalists, and co-writers. The LA Times calls it “a torrential cloudburst of jangly folk catharsis,” and Folk Alley named it a “lyrical and sonic masterpiece.”
Raye is a songwriter on Spirit Rangers, a groundbreaking Netflix animated children's series that shines a spotlight on Indigenous tales and culture. Spirit Rangers is one of the first shows of its kind; featuring an all Native American writers room and offering a refreshing narrative perspective through the exhilarating adventures of two siblings on a mission to safeguard their homeland.
Raye is currently touring nationally in her breakout role as Tiger Lily in the reimagined Broadway production of Peter Pan, where she combines acting, dancing, and singing in a production that celebrates and focuses on representation under the direction of Emmy Award winner Lonny Price and acclaimed playwright Larissa FastHorse. For the new “Peter Pan” production, [Larissa] reinterpreted the characters as Indigenous descendants who “all go to Neverland to preserve their culture. Neverland is something that’s helping them and saving them, keeping their culture alive until maybe one day they can find a way to bring it back.”
