Rayon is an experimental solo project of Markus Acher, co-founder of indie electronic band the Notwist and the Alien Transistor label. He uses the alias for his primarily instrumental soundtrack work, and the few Rayon recordings blend acoustic guitars and pianos with drum machines and samples, creating playful yet slightly eerie soundscapes. The project's first release was the soundtrack to Katja Schroeder's short film Run, released as the double 7" Yom by Hausmusik/Kollaps in 1995. Acher resumed the moniker a decade later with the 10" EP Libanon, composed for Michael Shamberg's Maître, lihseb Please and released by Alien Transistor. After another decade, Rayon returned with Il Collo e la Collana, the soundtrack to Eleonora Danco's film N-Capace. Alien Transistor released the score as an LP, and combined it with Libanon for its CD release. In 2016, Morr Music issued the Rayon full-length A Beat of Silence, the project's first non-soundtrack release. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
