Salvador, Bahia: the city has often been referred to as “most African city in the world outside of the African continent”, boasting a population of near 4 million people - with 80% being of African descent. This heritage has influenced the city’s culture, and especially their music: a unique scene in which Rafael Dias (RDD) was bred, and thrives in.

The city's music has always been internationally recognised due to their variety of afro-brazilian rhythms, and heavy use of percussion: which can be heard all around the city, in their Carnival (the biggest in the world), as well as in music from Grammy award winning artists such as Carlinhos Brown, or collaborations by the likes Michael Jackson and Paul Simon with local bands like Olodum.

Rafael Dias's unique production style creates a bridge between Salvador’s musical heritage and heavy percussions with modern music production and songwriting. As a result, RDD has amassed hundreds of millions of streams on his productions for a variety of Brazilian artists- including Anitta's international hit "Me Gusta" feat Cardi B & Myke Towers.

Now with his newly-launched solo career as RDD, Rafael seeks to create new bridges between Bahia's Afro-Brazilian rhythms with international artists from across the African music diaspora, as well as collaborating with Brazilians artists- acting both as a producer, and rapper.
