Real Thought is a Hip Hop artist from Jacksonville, North Carolina. It was there he found his passion for music and immediately got lost in the craft. A through and through Hip Hop head; Real tried anything from making beats and DJ'ing, to breakdancing and graffiti. But being an MC is what came natural to him. At 6 years old; Real was already writing songs, performing on stage, and jumping into cyphers.
In high school, Real and a few close friends started a rap group called Nu Era. Together they released 3 full length projects during the height of the mixtape era. People gravitated towards their gritty punchlines and pushed their music much farther than expected. This gave Real the motivation to focus on music even more.
While in college, Real Thought performed constantly and released his first solo project - "Live Free". This was just before Real got seriously involved with activism. Between music and founding organizations like the ECU Cypher (of Cypher UniverCity), InjustUS, and slamming with Word of Mouth, Real began to make a name for himself. And got a chance to work with rappers, poets, and activists from every angle of the culture. He tells these stories in his latest projects - "Hiatus", "Roots", and “The Format”.
