Rebecca Lappa is an Edmonton singer-songwriter, who delivers alternative music with folk undertones thru a pop vein. Just signed to Tonic Records, Lappa released her "Tales of a Taurus” EP, funded by her second FACTOR Juried Sound Recording grant, on May 5th, 2023. Since showcasing at UK’s Great Escape & Canada Music Week, Lappa is charting a new course in the pop scene. Her latest single Deep Water won the Women's Freedom song contest 2024. Her story based compositions, emotive vocal delivery, and image filled lyrics captured Lappa three 2019 Edmonton Music Awards nominations, winning Singer Songwriter Recording of the Year. She’s a Canadian Folk Music Awards winner, who has not only won 1st place 3 times in the Calgary Folkfest Songwriting contest and the Adult Alternative Recording of the Year at the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards. Lappa has toured Canada and entranced audiences at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival (2014, 2018), Rogue Arts Festival (2018), Calgary Folk Festival (2013, 2015), Canmore Folk Festival (2014) the Ottawa Blues Festival (2016, 2017), Alberta House during two Grey Cup (2010, 2018), Edmonton Rock Festival (2019) and Seven Music Fest (2018). Lappa is honoured to have opened for The Crash Test Dummies, Jenn Grant, Digging Roots, Basia Bulat, Reignwolf, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Maria Dunn, Amy Bishop, Mike Plume, Lissie and Leeroy Stagger. With powerful vocals and honest stories, Lappa is an emerging Canadian talent who is clearly "one to watch".
