Under the name Red Leaf Hill, artist and filmmaker Carmijn crafts music inspired by the raw beauty of Northern Norway. Originally from the Netherlands, Carmijn moved to the North in the spring of 2022, seeking a deeper connection to nature and the inspiration it brings. Nestled between steep mountains and deep fjords, life in the Norwegian wilderness has inspired her to write new music, bringing fresh sounds that reflect the beauty and rawness of the Nordic landscapes.
“As an artist, I’ve always dreamed of living in the heart of nature. For me, nature is magical—it heals, it frees, and it brings a sense of peace. Surrounded by steep mountains, endless ocean, and the icy Northern winds, I feel a deep sense of freedom. The ice-cold waters, the midnight sun, the stillness, the wilderness, and the wide Northern skies—these are the things that inspire me every day. The Northern lights, the fresh air, the untouched wilderness—they shape my music and my spirit. When I close my eyes, words and melodies come to me naturally.”
