Reese Burke

You found me! My name is Reese Burke, and I'm an independent singer-songwriter from Heflin, Alabama. My debut EP, "Half-Wasted Summers," is out now, and I'm just dying for you to listen. The three songs on the EP were each written in a different year. I wrote "Skeleton" at fifteen, which feels like a lifetime ago, even though I'm only eighteen. "Skeleton" sets the tone of the EP, starting with loads of teenage frustration. It is laced with a strong distaste for someone who was never really in the picture. "Searchin'" was written the next year., at sixteen. That song is about realizing how you feel... and that you're doomed. You find the one thing you've been looking for. So naturally, you do everything you can to distract yourself from it. This leads me to the final song, "Life Without You". It is about feeling suffocated by someone, and the chorus is the first breath of clean air. There's someone who would give you the world, but you know if you stick around, you'd just be settling for someone who could never understand you. You're comfortable where you are; however, you know what it is you really want. You're just too scared to go get it.
