Reitse Machiel is a Dutch singer-songwriter and musician. From a young age, he started making music and was featured on 3FM, a major Dutch radio station, in Giel Beelen’s show.
Shortly after, Reitse wrote a song for the movie called Afblijven, based on a book of Dutch writer Carry Slee which gained more than half a million streams.
Following this start, he began studying at the Herman Brood Academy, a Dutch music school, and participated in the TV program The Hit on RTL5 in 2014, where he reached the finals with his song Closer to You (episode featuring Eva Simons). He was also featured in De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland (NPO3), a Dutch TV competition for singer-songwriters, with the song You Still Have Your Heart.
His song Pieces was chosen as “Demo of the Day” on 3FM, and his song Walking Underwater was used as an anthem for Nationaal Ouderenfonds, a Dutch foundation supporting the elderly.
His music is characterized by a strong role for the piano and is a mix of (chamber) pop, soul, and cinematic music. He draws inspiration from artists such as Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, Jacob Collier, Cody Fry, and Ludovico Einaudi.
In addition to his own work, Reitse wrote songs for other artists, some of which have reached the charts.
Reitse has performed in venues such as Paradiso, Melkweg, Theater Orpheus, and Maassilo. Additionally, he performed with Jasper Mook at AFAS Live, one of the largest concert halls in the country, as the after-show for The Passenger.
