Formed in 2015, Relick is the brainchild of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer <a href="spotify:artist:6r0D51ead2noaOAQRJbutD" data-name="Matt Hibbard">Matt Hibbard</a>. His rare ability to compose and produce pop songs with a unique sonic craftsmanship has been compared to the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:414TS3VqZf1XPCBixdmX9n" data-name="Jack Antonoff">Jack Antonoff</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3Sz7ZnJQBIHsXLUSo0OQtM" data-name="Mac DeMarco">Mac DeMarco</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3vbKDsSS70ZX9D2OcvbZmS" data-name="Beck">Beck</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb" data-name="Tame Impala">Tame Impala</a>.
Consisting of a cast of rotating live members, friends and UNT jazz alumni, notably rhythm section players Anthony Corsaro on drums and Andy Rogers on bass, Matt would arrange, compose and perform rhythm section instruments such as drums and bass in the studio for 2016's Twin House and 2019's Lotta Noise. Later years saw a fresh live lineup of heavy hitters Mike Luzecky on bass and Matt Young on drums.
The release of 2023's <a href="spotify:track:2Te4TYwBNIKtYcRmG3omLi" data-name="Perfect">Perfect</a>, <a href="spotify:track:6SLJKypDIStqJ1IpzKga9z" data-name="Get Down">Get Down</a> and <a href="spotify:track:0AOTnOKgVhm69ar2VsbOvO" data-name="Hanging on the Phone">Hanging on the Phone</a> as precursors to Relick's third studio album ushered in growing anticipation. On October 27, 2023, Matt released his sophomore solo album <a href="spotify:album:4N3fhJylS9MplmJHsemyOw" data-name="the szn">the szn</a>, renewing commercial and critical success; ushering in a familiar albeit new era for Relick.
