Remix is a music group from Latvia formed in 1985 in Riga. The group is composed of several musicians, including Igo as the vocalist, Aivars Hermanis on guitar and vocals, Uldis Marhilevičs on keys and vocals, Vilnis Krieviņš on percussion instruments, and Yevgenis Shchapovs on bass (until 1988) and Eduards Glotovs on bass (from 1988). Raimonds Pauls, Latvian Radio's chief music editor, initiated a studio recording unit that brought together well-known musicians from various groups, including Opus, Līvi, Liepāja Quartet, and Modo, led by musician Aivars Hermanis.
The group's soloist, Igo, won the vocalist competition "Jūrmala 86", which contributed significantly to the group's instant popularity. Although a Latvian rock band, Remix mostly performed outside of Latvia, touring in countries such as Norway, Poland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Russia, and other republics of the Soviet Union at the time. 1988 the group became famous for their hit song "...pie Laika."
In 1989, pop music producers from the USA visited Riga and were impressed with Latvian rock groups. They selected Remix to offer new songs to the American audience and signed a management contract with the US company AM RE Managers. The group "Riga" was then formed. Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 1993 before releasing their much-anticipated debut album. However, the album was eventually released in Latvia in 2015.
In recent years, Remix has reunited for some exclusive performances.
