Floating in alternative/indie elements, independent artist Ren Downfelt blends sonic textures, harmonies and narrative lyricism to create his own upbeat yet filtered out, lo-fi sound - with warm drums & percussive elements, and fuzzy vocal processing.
He first started by creating electronic music in high school and playing it for his friends, teaching him the ropes to music production, but soon leading him to discover newer music and artists exploring more unique themes. This eventually grew into a journey of moving through genres until he started to combine everything he knew and found his own niche. The recent boom in indie artists and less conventional song styles finally gave him the space to release music and explore for an audience for it.
His song, <a href="spotify:track:4TvTeW8wcJqfljUgES9RkA" data-name="Stadium Lights - Demo">Stadium Lights - Demo</a>, was featured in the 2022 indie game 'Fears to Fathom - Norwood Hitchhike' and while being a short song, was praised for it's tone and lyricism, along with an atmospheric production. It ended up creating a burst in new listeners, giving him the little push he needed to create music more consistently, instead of treating it like the passion project it was, until then.
Now, based out of his little dorm-room studio in New Delhi, with a microphone and a DAW full of synthesizers & instruments, he draws inspiration from his life and the people around him, occasionally dropping pop culture references, to paint a fuzzy little picture in sound.
