REOG (pronounced: Ree - Ogh) got its name from an Indonesian folk dance which acts out the struggle of darkness and light in elaborate spectacle. Deep in the streets of the city known for perpetual struggle of dark and light, REOG rocks the most legendary venues of Los Angeles with notable performances at venues including Whisky Go Go, Viper Room & El Rey Theater, blinding audiences with a no less elaborate spectacle of sound and light and tales of this duality. REOG has been described as 90's Megadeth combined with Ozzy vocals with Bon Jovi type anthems. As LA’s only Indonesian-American fronted metal band, REOG presents music which is a “modern day classic metal”, huge riffs, high technicality, memorable melodies but not forgetting that music should always be fun for audiences.
REOG was founded by current singer and rhythm guitarist Sammy Tampubolon. The line up includes lead guitarist Bay Guitaro, an Indonesia based multi instrumentalist but choosing to hone his talents on his unique style of Rock. Bassist Ralph Beam (ex Mistress) brings his blues, punk and metal background to propel the rhythm and energy of the music. Drummer Jon Asher grounds the band in more modern metal styles with technical rhythms and relentless driving force.
REOG’s self titled 2024 album shows the band's re-recorded songs, a collection of crowd favorites such as "Daily Grind", "Island Of The Gods", “Where you Wanna Go” and “Not my Way” that are remaining as staples in the band’s live set.
