Talented Cuban guitarist Rey Guerra began studying music at the National School in 1973. During the following years, he came in first place twice after participating in the National Guitar Contest Amadeo Roldán, getting international recognition for winning the 1981's Marneurkirchen International Guitar Festival, a well-known German music event. Two years later, Guerra released Series Guitarras. It was followed by 1988's Ladder of Escape 2, recorded along with Robby Faverey in Holland, and 1991's From Yesterday to Penny Lane, released in Spain. To promote 1999's Mariposas, Rey Guerra went on tour with Cuban singer/songwriter Silvio Rodríguez and Spanish troubadour Luis Eduardo Aute. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
