Excelling in eclecticism, Ricardo Manuel is an artist who is difficult to pin down. Beginning his guitar studies at the age of 10, his curiosity and desire to learn quickly lead him to picking up the drums, bass guitar, piano, and singing, as well as discovering his desire to create through composition, songwriting, and arranging.
In April of 2022, Ricardo released his first his first EP titled A Lot On My Mind. The EP is a complete representation of his capabilities. The 5 tracks of the album were written, recorded, and performed by Ricardo, with a handful of features from the likes of Matthew Souaid and August McKinney. He also flaunts his eccentricity, with the album’s sound being a fusion of harmony and improvisation inspired by Jazz music and backbeats taken from Hip Hop and R&B.
Band leading is a position that comes naturally to Ricardo with his arranging credentials and his clear sense of creative vision. He has used these talents in his own band, and in a variety of jazz ensemble makeups including his guitar quartet, guitar piano duet, small vocal jazz ensembles, and more.
Ricardo Manuel achieved all of these accomplishments while being a student first achieving his DCS in Professional Music and Song Techniques from Vanier College, and he is currently in the process of achieving his Bachelors in Jazz from the Schulich School of Music McGill University, where he has utilized his talents by writing arrangements for the McGill Chamber Jazz Ensemble.
