Ricky Crisp

In the bushy northern outskirts of rural Australian city Ballarat, Crisp was raised in relative solitude away from the noisy, unpredictable suburban streets. As a result of notable distance between neighbors to create his own noise, paired with exposure to the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and Bon Iver, he was drawn to expression through music. Crisp’s lyrics often relate to the ongoing internal warfare of the mind. Topics such as tall-poppy syndrome (see 'Cellophane') are made easy poetry for the only artist in a family with 70+ cousins. Despite his clarity of passion, the pursuit of a career in music would require challenging a harsh internal dialogue before carving a path through the Australian cultural atmosphere.

Now based in Melbourne, the broody bopper has his eyes firmly set on providing a diverse, game-changing catalogue that will create a new meaning for the term ‘new-age independent songwriter’. Crisp hits the nail on the head with his memorable hooks and intricate beats, fusing each track with a vocal that seems utterly unique not only from track to track but verse to verse. He aims to carve out his own space in the musical landscape both IRL and online via his immersive visuals and intimate performances.

Crisp has been garnering Triple J plays with his tracks ‘Trinity’ and ‘Cellophane’, was featured on Apple Music’s ‘New Music Daily’ for ‘Chewed Hearts’ and had Spotify showing love on the soulful ‘Red Coat’.
