Rilena

Rilena is a 23 year old singer-songwriter from Boston, MA. Her debut album “Love, Juliet” is a genre-defying mix of pop, folk, and Northern Country (think: a country music feel but without the southern twang and pickup trucks - although Rilena does in fact drive a Tacoma).

Rilena’s vocal style ranges from purely pop to a deep and personal low range that seems to come right out of your speakers and touch you.

“Love, Juliet” is a concept album that tells a story akin to Shakespeare’s famous tragedy “Romeo and Juliet.” The album’s story is derived from events that have occurred throughout Rilena’s life. Although it starts off with bright love songs, “Love, Juliet” moves through themes of religious exploration, heartbreak, and loss. Listening to the album straight through, from start to finish in a single session, is highly recommended.

This spring, Rilena began releasing a series of cover songs, including Only Love Can Break Your Heart and Young Folks.

Rilena’s songwriting prowess comes to her from unknown sources. One day, she is going about her daily business - and the next, there is a song. She has no formal music training but composes, plays acoustic guitar for, and sings all of her songs. All other instruments on her debut album were performed by the multi-talented musician and producer Mike Midura.
