The idea for the DARK SIDE OF SUGAR was born in a dusty Berlin bar a little after midnight on a Sunday morning in late 2019. 27 Beers and 5 Vegetarian Kebabs later, the metalcore band RISEN FROM SHADOWS was born.
RISEN FROM SHADOWS have a sweet spot for covers. Taking the sweetest pop hits of all time and remaking them in the darkest metal cover versions. Their project THE DARK SIDE OF SUGAR is not just a collection of sinister-sounding remakes - but music with a mission. And an important message: The food industry is hiding excess sugar in our food - people are getting sick and even dying from related illnesses like Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes.
