Ritual Rabbits frontman Clint Walper spent his formative years pursuing the sport of hockey, but his true life devotion was waiting to emerge. Walper parlayed his athletic acumen into an Ivy League scholarship, but he soon set in motion a seismic life shift by dropping his hockey stick and picking up his first guitar. Ritual Rabbits was born.
A inspiring first studio session with engineer/producer/mixer Dean Nelson (Beck, John Mayer, Fergie, The Rolling Stones) led Walper to form Ritual Rabbits in 2014 and release their debut LP (named one SaskMusic’s top 40 albums of 2019). They've followed it with a string of earworm singles and established themselves as a high-energy fixture in the local music scene (highlighted by a main stage slot at the Ness Creek Music Festival in the summer of 2019).
Ritual Rabbits new EP, The Middle of Somewhere, arrives on April 2 and is highlighted by the single “It Was You.” A mid-tempo barn burner featuring a soaring chorus, angelic harmonies, pedal steel and infectious whistling, the song touches on embracing growth and finding a footing after something unsteady.
With recording already underway for their follow-up LP, Walper's knack for melody, sweet hooks and sticky songs have Ritual Rabbits poised to continue moving both heads and hearts. In the meantime, check out their new EP The Middle of Somewhere.
