Coming only a few months after Malics release of Whos Robby Malic. The 13 song project, Flowers Before Funerals displays Malics versatility both vocally with, “Keep all my Secrets” and lyrically with songs like “Top Floor”. With only a few months separating the two projects, its apparent that there has been a huge improvent in the mixing and creativity as well. The beats have unique sounds not typical of a rap album. Which is likely a result of Malic and his producer discovering what works for them and creating their own sound together. It is difficult to label Malic as just a rapper. His melodies are catchy and rhythmic and songs like “Long Time” offer a vibe that can be compared to his song “All My Life” but has the emotion in his voice heard in“Too Long”. Flowers Before Funerals is certainly a masterpiece that ends with you waiting to see what’s next for Robby Malic.
