Rodrigo Alvarez Vidal, was born in Concepción in 1978. Civil Engineer by profession; Magister in University Education from the Universidad del Biobío, specialized in the area of musical evaluation; Postgraduate in Musical Composition from the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso; and current student of Magister in Philosophy at the University of Concepción. He devoted himself to studying popular music and jazz on the electric bass in parallel with his last years of engineering, building a career as a composer, musician and bassist in his hometown.
Since 2012 he has been working at the University of Concepción as an academic in charge of creative subjects in popular music and jazz for Pedagogy in Music Education of said house of studies. Until 2019, he has developed his teaching work as a professor of music theory at the Centro Artístico Cultural de Concepción, and until 2017, a bass monitor for the youth big band organized by this institution. In the international arena, since 2016 he is a permanent teacher at the Córdoba Jazzcamp in Argentina.
