A multi-instrumentalist and producer of his own music, Roland began playing the cello at music school as a child and then turned to rock and jazz guitar as a self-taught teenager. He later took up singing, bass, drums, and percussion. As an adult, Roland developed a particular passion for acoustic guitar in fingerpicking style. Since his second album in 2017, he has produced his albums from start to finish, including mixing and mastering. The styles of his albums are varied: chillout, jazz with electronic influences, progressive rock, French rock, fingerpicking, blues, country, and more.
