Ronney Abramson was born in the Paris suburb of Neuilly-Sur-Seine, and grew up in Montreal.
She began playing guitar and writing songs at an early age, influenced by many genres of music. Her formal studies in classical guitar added an extra layer of inspiration to her songwriting. Her songs and smooth guitar style form a warm blend of folk, pop and jazzy soul.
Her first album, RONNEY ABRAMSON (1972), was recorded at André Perry's Montreal studio and released on Capitol Records. After moving to Toronto, Ronney went on to record two albums for True North Records, STOWAWAY (1977) and JUKEBOX OF PARIS (1978) and an EP for Duke Street Records (1982).
As co-creator, producer, writer, arranger and performer, she recorded 2 critically acclaimed children’s albums for A&M Records, winner of the Juno Award for Best Children's Album, RUGRAT ROCK (1983) and THE RUGRATS ROCK ON (1985).
Ronney's work as lyricist and scriptwriter appears in the TVO/Treehouse co-produced animated television show for pre-schoolers, GRANDPA'S GARDEN (2005).
Ronney continues to write songs and perform. In her own words: "Since vinyl is making a comeback, so am I".
On March 31, 2021, Ronney’s albums, STOWAWAY (1977) and JUKEBOX OF PARIS (1978) were released in Japan by the acclaimed reissue label P-Vine Records, appearing for the very first time on CD. These exclusive, special edition CDs (including bonus tracks) are available via links on the P-Vine website.
