At a very early age my literary influences were the likes of Gill Scott Heron, Nikki Giovanni, Sonya Sanchez, Amir Baraka, Phyllis Wheatley, Millie and Christine McCoy, Richard Wright and Ozzie Davis. While in high school she saw Nikki Giovanni perform her poem “Ego Trippin” at an arts festival, after I became completely swept away by the power in her poem, the word play and how she recited it (Spoken Word), I’d never seen anything like it I was mesmerized, after I never put down my pen and pad it goes with me everywhere…even today 😊
My artistic contributions can be heard on iTunes, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and Spotify. I am also on the “Survivor’s” project a CD produced by Eugene Brooks in 2011 for National Child Abuse month, which can be found on iTunes. Performances at the MATCH Theatre, Houston, TX, Art Outside annual Spoken Word festival in Austin, TX. Shrine World Music Restaurant New York, NY and various venues in New Jersey. I am also published in the Austin International Poetry Festival (A.I.P.F) 2016 International Poetry book.

One of my mantras I say is “writing centers me, music soothes me and words set me free. It’s a solid union and there’s nothing like it”.
