With both a poignant and calm presence, Røsten takes you into his melancholic and distinctive universe. Well rooted in the 70’s British songwriting tradition, yet with influences from modern jazz as well as classical impressionism, he creates songs with playful melodies, dreamy harmonies, and subtle lyrics. Røsten is the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Leon Røsten, who has primarily made a name for himself as a jazz pianist, having graduated from Jazzlinja in Trondheim and LCCM in London. Røsten released his debut album in 2021, I You He She It We You They, a self-produced project that showcases his love for both jazz and classical music traditions. In spring 2023, he released I Could Even Try To Change Your Mind, an album that received positive reviews and was played on NRK radio. The third album, currently titled Virtual Dreams, will be recorded in 2025, with plans for release in 2026. The band, featuring Håkon Brunborg on viola and pedal steel, and Tuva Halse on violin and vocals, has great chemistry, contributing to a dynamic and cohesive sound.
