The conductive Metal band "Rotten Copper" was founded in 2019 by Thure Kjer (drums and guitar at the time) together with Rainer Caspar (rhythm guitar) and Frank Plewa (bass) under the name "Orange On Fire". The melodic guitar sound, which was shaped by Thure and supplemented by compositions by Rainer, was to be supported by a female voice. So in 2020, Bianca van Dijk was brought in as singer. When Axel Prüser took over the drums shortly afterwards, Thure switched to lead guitar. "Orange On Fire" was complete and ready for its first performances. In 2023, Bianca left the band. Leni Ackermann became the new "female front" in the same year, and from then on she also took over writing the lyrics. In 2024, Frank and Axel left "Orange On Fire". The band still worked on recording and releasing existing pieces and also played Live gigs with drum backing tracks on stage. For the recordings, Thure took over the drums and bass in addition to the lead guitar.
In 2024, John McKillin (bass) and Matze Krause (drums) became Part of the band who played from then on under the name „Rotten Copper“.
In 2025 Rainer and John left the band. Jan-Hendrik Heiss took over the bass. The band decided to go on as a 4-piece.
The multifaceted sound of "Rotten Copper" can be described as alternative Rock with influences of Metal, Pop and a little bit of Ska. The lyrics tell emotional and sometimes sarcastic stories that make you think.
